poetry and politics via the truth

what in the world has happened

what in the world has happened
why has this all gone down
why aren't there more questions
what we're told is just not sound

what happened to the investigations
why don't some seem to care
why do they just blame others
when there's guilt they too should bare

when officials can't remember
or just won't tell the truth
isn't there something really wrong
can't we just see the ruse

why did they ignore warnings
countless times and times again
yet they can take away our rights
is our constitution just a whim

secrets cannot be kept forever
someday we all will know
who truly stood to gain
who put on this tragic show

a show that misled millions
and brought us to a war
without knowing the true story
and all it had in store

what in the world has happened
the time to learn is now
for what we need is just the truth
that must become the norm, some how

"Beware the leader

who bangs the drums of war

in order to whip the citizenry

into a patriotic fervor,

for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword.

It both emboldens the blood,

just as it narrows the mind.

And when the drums of war

have reached  a fever pitch

and the blood boils with hate

and the mind has closed,

the leader will have no need

in seizing the rights of the citizenry.

Rather, the citizenry,

infused with fear and blinded by patriotism,

will offer up all of their rights unto the leader

and gladly so.

How do I know?

For this is what I have done.

And I am Caesar."

  too nice

sometimes one can be too nice
to those who do not care
one second they are smiling
the next, they're just not there

what makes them change their colors
is something beyond what's true
as they like to manipulate their secrets
keeping the actual truths from you

now don't fret about these changes
because this is when you get to find
what you thought might a true friend
existed merely in your mind

but that's not to say, don't be too nice
for you may never know
the reality from the illusion
and the direction things could go

because one day these cheshire cats
may finally see how easy it could be
to have true friends though thick and thin
from now until eternity

Clever words are not profound.

Wise people are not quarrelsome.

Quarrelsome people are not wise.

Those who are intelligent are not ideologues.

Those who are ideologues are not intelligent.

The enlightened never hoard anything.

They share their possessions.

The more they give,

the greater their abundance.
