as I sit here wondering
of the peace around me tonight
one cannot put aside
all those who have to fight
a war that now seems endless
with much more hurt than gain
where the end is out of sight
as things remain the same
but something must be wrong
what it is we need to know
that to fight is not an end
for it prolongs a losing show
a show that has no victor
and when all is said and done
no matter who looks back
it will be evident no one won
so let us change our tact
and treat everyone with regard
and maybe down the road
we may feel safe beyond our yard
and learn that helping others
instead of pushing our beliefs
will pay off beyond our dreams
and may just provide relief
for we can not ignore
that God made us much the same
with something called free will
so we could address God by different names

on the other side of Orion
a very long way from home
the once famous pilot
is now confused and all alone
when he left his land some years ago
things seemed that there could be
eventually peace on earth
with a world in harmony
but that is not what happened
for those that were supposed to lead
failed those who had hoped for the best
and quickly turned to greed
a greed that sucked the life
out of every little thing
but not at their expense mind you
for each leader acted as if he were king
how much could they take from those
who cared before they became the wiser
to really know those kings for what they were
and that was no good, dirty liars
then after there was nothing left
in the land they were charged to keep
they began destroying others
‘til the whole world began to weep
and eventually there was nothing
on a world that once did thrive
for now all was barren
and all that lived had died
so looking back in disbelief
the pilot shook his head
wondering if there could ever be
life among the dead
but that would never happen
because those kings made it so
to where nothing would ever live again
much less ever grow
then the pilot turned away
and put his craft in gear
and accelerated past what would be warp 10
to try to escape his fear
how man could be so stupid
and look others in the eye
only to know they were charging towards Armageddon
and that everyone would die

today I entered a world
I had never been before
that started quite soon after
I stepped through Shands door
seeing things both big and small
things both good and bad
if it wasn’t for these people
our known world just could be had
there were things that you could see
others you never thought were there
bugs that could take so many lives
that were much smaller than a human hair
for our government used to think
this virus could never jump those bounds
and now we know the truth
the government’s judgment was not sound
for a virus that is indiscriminate
can take both you and me
that is if we’re not careful
and remain too blind to see
so let’s hope it is not too late
and that our world will understand
that prevention can be a cure
until it gets out of hand

it takes a special person
to do what you can do
for you surely help the multitudes
instead of just a few
and beyond that is your touch
that comes from up above
for the work you have perfected
is nurtured with His love
so I will never forget the day
when I looked into that light
without a second thought
that you could help my sight
for you have been surely touched by God
and thru Him you touched me
bringing about the end result
to where I can now clearly see
